ABOUT
Ethlyn is a playable character in Fire Emblem: Genealogy of the Holy War. She is the younger sister of the main character, Sigurd, and married to his friend Quan, the Prince of Leonster. Ethlyn is from the House of Chalphy, a dukedom in Grannvale that was founded by the Crusader Baldr. As Quan's wife, she is princess of Leonster. She has two children, a two-year-old girl named Altena and a baby boy named Leif. She is twenty years old in Chapter 5 of the game.
Personality
Ethlyn seems like a kind, sensible, motherly person, the correct sort of wife for a crown prince. And she is. However, House Chalphy possesses a strong streak of stubbornness and recklessness. This, she is also. Though less prone than her brother to using force as a first resort, Ethlyn will quickly rush into danger if someone she cares about is threatened. When she makes a decision, she does not back down from it, even if that would be the more sensible thing to do. Like her brother, she easily crosses the line from courage to rashness.
Due to her mother's early death, Ethlyn stepped into the responsibilities of a household's mistress when she was very young. With her father and elder brother lax in their standards in their grief for Lady Chalphy, Ethlyn took it on herself to maintain the good order of the household. As a result, she has a somewhat over-developed sense of responsibility and can be fussy at times. Having taken over a duchess' position and authority, she has no compunctions about trying to mother people older than her, or giving them a piece of her mind when she disagrees with their actions.
She is a sensitive and caring person and is very devoted to those she cares about. She is deeply in love with her husband and quickly grew to love her sister-in-law Deirdre as part of the family, and she can empathize easily with others and their troubles.
Skills
Ethlyn is a skilled healer, trained in medicine and the use of enchanted staves to treat battlefield wounds. The staffs in her possession are the Healing Staff, which provides moderate healing, and the Return Staff, which instantly teleports the target back to wherever home is.
As a minor descendant of Baldr, Ethlyn also has a boost to her skill as a swordswoman. Her preferred weapon is the Light Brand, which can be used as a typical melee weapon, but can also be used to cast a beam of light magic from a distance.
Permissions
opt-outs: Ethlyn lives in a medieval-era, feudal society where the age of majority is in the mid-teens. She herself married and had her first child at about 17 - 18 years old, and sees nothing wrong or unusual in this.
